Throwing the ball
Start playing by Simple Throw game. Position yourself on the bowling alley by touching your fore-finger to the screen, and move it left and right. When you flick or lift your finger, the ball travels straight down the alley without curving left or right. To help you figure out where you are standing, you will hear the numbers from 1 to 5, where 5 is the edge and 1 is close to the center. The left side is a man’s voice and the right side is a woman’s voice.
To make the game a more challenging, play the One Finger Aim and Throw game.
Position yourself on the bowling alley by touching your fore-finger on the screen, and move it left and right, until you are positioned correctly.
Then pause briefly, then to aim, flick in the direction that you want the ball to go.
You can also slide your finger in that direction after pausing shortly.
You will hear a dong-dong sound and the phone will vibrate when you have paused long enough.
If you don’t pause, you will hear a honk sound that indicates that you throw was rejected.
Your throw starts when you lift your finger from the screen.
To be even more accurate in your bowling, play the Two Finger Aim and Throw game.
Position yourself on the bowling alley by touching your thumb on the screen, and move it left and right, until you are positioned correctly.
Then touch your fore-finger on the screen, and move it left and right until you have ball aimed exactly where you want.
Finally, pause briefly, and then flick your fore-finger.
You will hear a dong-dong sound and the phone will vibrate when you have paused long enough.
If you don’t pause, you will hear a honk sound that indicates that your throw was rejected.
The faster you flick, the faster the ball will go.
If you change your mind, and want to reposition yourself, first lift your thumb, and then lift your forefinger.
You will hear a honk sound that indicates you are starting over again.
If you prefer to hear your position as beeps and clicks, in the SETTINGS screen, you can switch side to side positioning from NUMBERS to BEEPS.
At the left edge, you will hear very fast clicks that slow down as you move to the center, and then switch to faster beeps as you get to the right edge.
If you want to know the angle you threw the ball at, in the SETTINGS screen, set TELL ANGLE to ON. Eacht time you throw the ball, you are told
general direction – left or right – and the angle, such as 10 degrees.
Controlling the ball and the pins
This game starts with a big bowling ball that you throw at big bowling pins. It makes the game rather easy.
If you want a harder challenge, you can make the bowling ball smaller or the pins smaller.
The ball size varies based on the distance between the pins. The smallest ball is 20% bigger than the space between the pins.
That’s about the same size as you would find in a bowling alley.
The largest ball is 40% bigger than the space between the pins.
The bigger the pins, the more likely that one pin will hit into another pin and knock it over.
The smallest pin size is about the same as you would find in a bowling alley.
You can also change the speed of the bowling ball in the SETTINGS screen. The faster you flick, the faster the ball will go.
With the default MEDIUM speed, a fast flick takes about 3 to 4 seconds for the ball to travel down the alley and hit the pins.
FAST speed takes about 1 to 2 seconds, and SLOW speed takes about 5 to 6 seconds.
